of these has arrived to near Tun-

tured Kwanyang, 48 miles from

Seed Buying j
Program Set

CORVALLIS -(Special) -Detailed
price schedules for the 1945
cover crop seed purchase program
have been announced by William
J. Enschede of Hillsboro, acting
chairman of the AAA committee.
The schedule covers various
grades of four varieties of seed
to be purchased from growers or
dealers.
Purchases this year will be
be made on essentially the same
plan as in 1944, except that no
seed will be bought on the basis
of private tests. Producers may
sell on either official purity and
germination tests, or on offici'd
purity test alone. On seed sold
on purity test alone, payment will
be at 80 per cent of the full rate
pending outcome of official ger
mination tests.
Seed will be purchased from
dealers who offer it in carload lots,
60,000 pounds or more, of one va
riety and of uniform quality.
Blending of ineligible seed in a
carload will not be permitted, En
schede said.
Prices and specifications are as
follows:
Hairy vetch, $12 a hundred for
seed with 93 per cent purity and
90 per cent germination; discount
of 16 cents per hundredweight for
each- per cent below 90 for ger
- mination, and 9 cents for each per
cent below 95 for purity. Mini-

To Convert in 12 Hours

cony-Vacuum OH Company, Inc.,
said today It would be able to con
vert its. 10' major refineries
throughout the country to civilian
gasoline production within 12
hours after V-J day.

said, now manufacture 50,000 bar
rels of the country's aviation gaso
line daily, accounting for 10 per
cent of the country's production.

Thursday night, in Arlington late
Friday, and apprehended its three
passengers. In the car were Archie
Edward Cousins, jr., and Richard
Louis Thompson, both of Camp
Adair, and Irene Alice Burchfield,
19, 318 Center st, Silverton, who
were lodged in the Arlington jail
pending further investigation.
