Hog Prices For Valley Are Listed PORTLAND, March 24 - (Spe cial) -Hog prices effective in the Willamette vaUey area were an nounced Saturday by H. P. Mad dison, price specialist from the Portland OPA district office. The maximum permissible price for barrows and gilts, weighing over 140 pounds, delivered to any "buying station" in Marion county is $15.45. Sows, boars and stags take 75c per cwt less. These prices, Maddison pointed out, apply as the maximum that may be paid by any packing bouse, slaughter hpuse, or "certi fied dressed hog processor." No butcher, unless he is register ' ed as a "certified dressed hog pro cessor", may purchase dressed hogs in the carcass. Any person who sells live hogs at "prices higher than the above is liable to the various -penalties prescribed under the emergency price control act of 1942. The only exceptions to the above prices occur when sales are specifically made for breeding; se rum production; feeding of hogs under 140 pounds, or for sales un der certain specified conditions by a farm youth organization. Some purchases were made for flour millers but they were too small to bolster values. , Corn started about steady, the market supported by resting or ders for the May delivery at $1.12.
