1 tablespoon piprika.
Cut steak Into fix pieces. Sea
son and dip in beaten egg dilut
ed with milk, then into sifted
crumbs. Brown slowly in hot fat.
Add sour cream. Cover and cook
slowly one hour. Add paprika
and Wend well. Serve steak tip
ped with sauce, on a very hot
platter. Yield: six servings. -

INDEPENDENCE About 50
were in attendance at the all-day
meeting of the Polk county
council of Parent-Teachers on
Wednesday, held at the West a
lem grade school. Associations
, represented were from Dallas,
Falls City, ' 'Monmouth, Inde
pendence and West Salem
At the morning business ses--sion,
presided over by Mrs.
Fletcher Barrows of Monmouth,
president, a school of instruction
was given by Mrs. J. H. Turnbull
of Salem, regional vice-president
She talked on the objec
tives of Parent-Teacher work.
Discussions were given on
bills of interest to Parent-Teachers
now before the legislature.
The association was urged to
support the plan now before the
ways and means committee for
$23,000 to be allowed Jor re
search on child nutrition. They
were urged also to support house
bill No. 53, which will provide a
health and physical fitness pro
gram in high schools. The sup
port of the milk control bill was
also urged and the bill to be
drawn asking the state to pro
vide funds for a school lunch
supervisor in the department of
education.
Luncheon was served by West
Salem Parent-TeacherJ associa
tion as hostesses and the teach
ers of the grade school as guests.
' Mrs. . Van Zanten, principal of
the grade school, presented a
group of students in a music
program, followed by; a talk by
Katherine Haskell Read, assist
ant professor of household ad
"ministration at pregon State
college. She spokef on "How can
home and school help develop
more tolerance and friendliness
" in . children." She stated that
children should bej taught to find
outlets for negative emotions
. and that parents must learn to
understand and accept emotions
of their children.
The nominating committee
elected to report at the next
meeting to be held at Dallas on
April 5 includes Mrs. Dean
Walker, chairman, Mrs. Norman
Hanna and Mrs. Hugh Van Loan
of Monmouth.
