day in the library rooms. Miss
Myrtle Myers, vice president,
presided in the absence of Mrs.
C. M.- Smith.
Mrs. Walter Kropp of Albany
spoke interestingly about - the
Aleutian islands. Mrs. Kropp wore
boots made of sealskin, which her
husband, Lt Walter Kropp, had
sent from the Aleutians. She
also displayed fur mittens and
house slippers she received from
her husband.
The next meeting of the club
will be February 14, and will be
a Valentine party for members
: and their husbands. A 7 o'clock
' dinner will be served. .

who occupied Mrs. E. B." Knight's
house on Second street; ' have
moved to Stayton, where Ammon
is employed by ; the Wright Truck
line. Mrs. Grace Thurston moved
from the McNeal property on
Second street into Mrs. Knight's
house Thursday. The McNeal
property was sold this week to a
Mr. Bennett of S h e d d . George
McNeal came from Vancouver,
Wash., to close the deal this week.
The new owner plans to move
right away and make some im
provements on the place.
DALLAS Edward J. Steele, 63,
West Clay street, died here Thurs
day. Survivors are widow, Mar
garet, C. Steeje, and six sons, one
fagrandson, one granddaughter. ;
Services at 2 p. m. Monday, Jan
uary 1 29, at Henkle and Bollman
chapel, Dallas. Interment In City
View, Salem.
