Bj popular acclaim as well at judge'i decision, the little wire
hair terrier, Craven Majorette won best dog at the Oregon Dog
Fanciers association show sponsored by the Salem Lions club
. Saturday and Sunday. Over 1100 paid admissions were sold, dog
lovers coming from many parts of the state to -view the final
judging on Sunday night. The winning terrier is owned by Reg
inald Livsey, Milwaukie.

charge since Dec. '31, 1940, and
who are unable to find other suit
able living quarters,' may make
application for construction, alter
ations, or .betterment of houses
which they own, or the owrr
may request special priorities for
similar work on houses occupied
by these veterans, it is announced
by A. L. Brewster, local service

homes under the new procedure
should be filed on WPB Form 2896
with the nearest office of the fed
eral housing administration
(FIIA). If the application is ap
proved, the veteran or other ap
plicant receives an allotment sym
bol covering the priority for the
purchase of material and equip

US bureau of reclamation since
July, 1940, announced his retire
ment today, effective Dec. 10,

Strand Speaks on Expansion

The housing, equipment and expansion needs of the Oregon Sys
em of Higher education and of Oregon State college in particu-
ar were the subject of a talk, by Dr. A, L. Strand, Monday at the
Salem Chamber of Commerce. ' 'H h '
Dr. Strand who came to the college as president just two years
ago from Montana State college, said that the housing needs of the
University of Oregon and the
three colleges of education were
