About 80 guests were present.
Prizes were given for the oldest
Past Noble Grand present, for the
lodge who had the largest num
ber of Past Noble Grands present,
and for the lodge which had No
ble Grands present from the long
est distance. Newberg Rebekah
Lodge carried off , all the prizes.

Past Noble Grand? Mrs. Swartz,

Club Has Meeting
SWEGLE Mrs. George Brown
and Mrs. Mennis Dalke were
hostesses for ' members of the
Swegle Women's club at the
home of Mrs. Brown on East Gar
den road Tuesday afternoon.
Three meetings were announced
for women of the community, the
home extension meeting on Oc
tober 13; Parent-Teachers on Oc
tober 17, and an all day meeting
Friday at the home of Mrs. H.
Herrald on East Turner road. This
meeting is called for. the purpose
of sewing on a much needed wel
fare project. Covered dish dinner
will be served by those not sew
ing. The club will also sponsor
the annual Halloween party the
night of October 31.

ICED APPLE DUMPLINGS
Using a standard pastry recipe, roll the pastry
i Jg-inch thick and cut into 6-inch squares. Wash ,
and peel 6 whole medium-sized cooking apples; :

each pastry square. Fill h core-hle-' witb',
brown sugar, andasn of cinnamon ana nux- ,
meg, and f IbVp. butter or margarine. Dampen ' ,
' edges of pastry, and draw up around apples, i
pressing securely together. With sharp tined fork,
prkk dough well all over. Place in well-greased
drip pan. Bake in hot oven (450 F.) 15 minutes. ;
Reduce heat to moderate oven (350 F.jj and bake
45 minutes or until done, basting every 15 min-
, utes with syrup made by boiling 1 cup granulated
sugar, H cup water, and 2 tbsps. butter or mar-
garine. When baked, frost tops immediately with
medium-thick powdered sugar butter icing.
