Seeks to Revoke
DuBois Bond
A motion has been entered by
District Attorney Miller B. Hay
den asking the court to revoke
bond and consequent appeal of
Leon DuBois, recently sentenced
to three years in the penitentiary
on a charge of contributing to the
delinquency of a . - minor, ' on
grounds the $5000 bond raised by
the defendant to forestall execu
tion of sentence so that the judg
ment could be appealed is not of
a nature to effect such stay since
the bond ' does not conform to
certain statutes.

SAN FRANCISCO, Feb.
-Pacific coast hens keep right on
scrambling ' egg production rec
ords. Last week they sent a new
high record total of 105,657 cases
to 68 California, Oregon and
Washington plants for' packing.
The preceding week's record was
100,866 cases. Since the second
week ; of January production has
run more than one-fifth ahead of

Secretary of State Robert S.
FarrelL -jr Saturday approved a
statewide safety week program in
Oregon, March 19 to 25.
Safety activities will be empha
sized in special programs to be
arranged by various organizations.
Farrell said a recent study con
ducted by the national safety
council .showed that time lost as
a result of .accidents involving
Oregonians last year was suffi
cient to have built 83 Liberty
ships.

of honor at the all-high school
age party held at the YMCA. .

president of his sophomore class.

Save 26 Per Crent
On Year's Mileage
The drive to conserve gasoline
and tires in the -operation of state
owned automobiles in 1943 . re
sulted Jn a 28 per cent saving in
mileage when : compared .-with
1941, Floyd Cook, state govern
ment mileage administrator, re
ported to Governor Earl Snell
Saturday.
Records show that the 1941
mileage was 13,191,703 miles as
against 10,260,535 miles in 1943,
or a saving of 3,537,168 miles, the
equivalent of '235,811 gallons of
gasoline! Cook said the saving was
two-fold, a conservation of gaso-
line for the armed forces and a
saving in vital railroad transpor
tation.

Nine children under 12 years
of age were killed In traffic acci
dents in Oregon during the first
six weeks of 1944, Secretary of
State Robert S. Farrell, jr., re
ported "Saturday. He said fatalities
in this age group amounted to 24

' Four of the children were killed
when they dashed into a street
in the path of a motor vehicle,
three were struck while riding
bicycles and two were killed 'in
cars involved in accidents. -
