Camas Couple Visit Family Mill City Residents Entertain Many -Over Holiday Mill City Christmas dinner guests at the "Boots' Higdon home were Mr. and Mrs. Dick Saucier, Lou Graham, and Hlfdon's daughters, Dorothy and Ruth who are employed In Salem. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Popkes dl Camas, spent the week end at the home of Rev. and Mrs. W. S. Crockett visiting their daughters Joy and Jean. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Carey were guests of the Carl Chonces. Both re employed in Portland. Frances and Verna Caraway of Portland and their daughter Lois nd Family of Lebanon were holiday guests of the Frank Car aways. Miss Edna Swift of Portland spent the week end with her mother, Mrs. Anna Swift Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Sparks and daughter of Vanport City were Christmas guests in Mill city visi ting their friends. Mrs. Sparks was the former Violet Stice and was a resident here for several years. Friends of the Bert Libbys of Springfield are receiving announ cements of the marriage of their daughter Elberta to Staff Sgt Robert Wakefield of Camp Adair. Sgt Wakefield's home is in Kan sas City. They are now living in Albany. Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Cree and family spent Sunday in Salem at a family dinner at the home of Mrs. Cree's sister, Mrs. O. W. Gorton. Guests were Mrs. J. M. Dickinson. Mr. and Mrs. Wade Dickinson, Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Cree and family, Pvt Jennings O. Barker from Camp Adair, and Mr. and Mrs. Gorton family. The Mill City Manufacturing company shut down Thursday un til Monday morning for the holi days. The Mt Jefferson Camp will re sume operations Tuseday morn ing. Miss Sigrum G rims ted, local third grade teacher, is .spending the holidays with her mother in Seattle. Mrs. Mable Needham and daughter Lydia spent Christmas in Dallas at the home of her sister. Mr. and Mrs. Deb Turnidge and family were guests of Mrs. Tur nidge's brothe at Alsea. Christmas day guests at the home of the Floyd Shepherd's were their daughter, Mrs. Milton Roten and Mrs. Shepherd's bro ther, Bertel Bates, both of Stay ton. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Shroeder and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Shroeder recently attended the wedding of their neice. Miss Louise Grafe at Oregon City. Miss Grafe Is the daughter of Leroy Grafe of Gajes nd Idanaha. Shirley Jean Cree, daughter of the Paul Cree's, became ill Christ mas day and was taken to the Deaconess hospital. ' Rudolph Runde, who recently returned from Portland, after a visit with his daughter Ruth, is confined to his home with illness. Mrs. Runde, a registered nurse of Portland is caring for him. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Hoff (Doris Shelton) were week end visitors at the Glen Shelton home. Visitors at the home ofthe Ellis Hill's are Mrs. Hill's daughter Opal, and her sister Mrs. Mack. Mrs. Bur son who has been very Ul with the flu is better. Mr. and Mrs. Applet and family were Sunday visitors at the home of Mr. Applet's sister, Mrs. Echo Mason in Salem. She was able to be brought home Monday evening. Original Play Given by Pupils BRUSH COLLEGE An orig inal play "Beauty and the Beast,' in six acts, written by the upper grade teacher. Miss Trula Grant, was presented by the entire Brush College school at the schoolhouse December 23. Miss Muriel Kaster, primary teacher, who arranges the annual Spring Dance Revue, was in charge of costuming the east. - - The principal character parts were taken by Glenda McAllister as Beauty; Barney-Rogers, Beast; Jerry Benson .Beauty's fattier; Jo sephine Singer, Carol; Ova Lough, Barbara; Robert Smith, Roberta; Richard Singer, Pete; Jim Benson, Bob; Dick Moriarty, preacher; Charles McLain, .John; Ann Bay- r, grandmother; Katherine Sing er, Mary; Zandra -Streeter. Betty; Zyssett and Donba Kron i statues.' ' Ship Worker On Vacation : HOPEWELL Margaret Gei sler, student at Willamette uni versity, was a Christmas guest at her home here. John Geisler came Friday and spent Christmas day with his family here. He is foreman of the trial run crew at the Kaiser shipyards at Van couver and this was his first day off in two months. Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Guy Fresh our were Mr. and Mrs. Walter Kenworthy of Portland, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse White and son, Jack, of Eugene, Mr. and Mrs. John Fisher and family of Hubbard and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Freshour of Pleasantdale. Edgar Edwards, one year old grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Loop, is there this week while his mother and sister are ill. ; Mrs. Ida Humble who has been a guest oi Mr. ana Mrs. Owen Pears and other friends her for the last two months left Tuesday for her home at Pomona, Calif. Monitor Church Holds Program MONITOR Th Lutheran church of Monitor held their Christmas program Saturday night. A fine program was given and a Targe crowd attended. Th Elliott Prairie Women's club held their annual community dinner at the hail and the school had its Christmas program in the afternoon, T h u r sdaj. December 23. Miss Frances Harper of Port land, spent the holidays with her mother, Mrs. Carl Fauske. Carl Fausk has been home sick with the flu. He is employed at the Swan Island shipyard. Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Oathout of Portland spent the holidays at their farm home here, returning to Portland Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Alex Fauske of Mulino stopped for a short visit at the Thomas O'Keef home, Christmas day, while on their way to Salem. T. Cline was complete. Mr. Turner, who recently observed his 79th birthday, anniversary has been ill and Mrs. Turner is having trouble with a lame knee. Myron Turner, their grandson, is in England with the US army. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Zentner were hosts to a group of friends at their home Sunday. Attending were Mr. and Mrs. Neal David son of Dayton, Mr. and Mrs. Vic tor Geiger, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Baker. Seven Granges Hold Installation ALBANY Seven granges held a joint installation oi omcers Wednesday night "in the home economics building at Oregon State college at 8 o'clock. State Master Morton Tompkins was guest speaker.
