N Woman's' Editor , Making people look like what they aren't or even mak- tig them look like "what they are, is quite an art and tor over 0 years Mr. and Mrs. H. D." Trover have taken pictures of Sa lem people and tried to make them look' like what they think .hey should. i " The Trovers will celebrate their golden wedding anniver ary on Monday md even though they have taken thous ands of "pictures during the "half century, they are still hard at Vork photographing soldiers and civilians , in their studio at i22 North Commercial street. 1 . Mrs. Trover says they will take no. sittings on Monday, so Iriends may call and chat without interruption Mr. Trover isn't o sure, because he' has lots of work to do, and servicemen es pecially dre anxious to be photographed. -.' Fifty years ago Monday, it was almost the same, Anna Louise Cronise who owned a photographic studio on the south west comer of High and State streets and her operator Howard Trover only took time off to be, married by Rev. Knight and feen'they went back to their work, taking pictures. The Trovers have been -partners ever since and are probably the oldest cctive photographers, in point of service, in the state. Mrs, .Trover finds great pleasure in her-china painting, emd still has a work shop and kiln across the hall from the stu dio, where she spends many hours putting blue and pink flow er designs on creamy white china. She has taught, hundreds cf Salem women the intricacies of design, execution and firing ef the china. Among the interesting things in the Trover gallery are the files of old glass plate3 and"f ilms away back very near the be ginning of their business career. '. There are negatives of family groups of long ago, arid there are photographs of houses torn down long ago. Many of Calem's famous personalities are among those negatives of the Trover's, and there are lesser known persons with funny liats and long skirts, showing the vejry latest in fashion each period. The Trovers have followed lives from the day of birth, through the day of marriage and sometimes to the very end. They know which citizens were good when young children end which were not, and they can tell funny stories about the "subjects" through" these many years. Helping Mr. and Mrs. Trover to celebrate the day will be pieces and nephews. There will be Mrs. Louise Benjamin of Tillamook, Ralph Cronise, of Albany, Kratz Cronise of Idaho, cmd Harry Cronise of Salem, and many old friends and. bus iness associates. . ,.- i r, V. v-v . i..- ,-.
