man 2nd class and took advanced

rona, Calif. Seaman Hewett
graduated with the highest hon
ors and was among the five girls
on the honor roll. Upon com
pleting her advanced training at
the Corona hospital she received
the rating of pharmacist mate
2nd class and is reporting for
duty at Long Beach, Calif.
GERVAIS Mr. and Mrs.
Peter Stokx have received word
that their daughter Dorothy has
been honorably discharged from
the WAVES because of a physi
cal ailment. She is at the home
of her brother Albert and fam
ily at San Luis Obispo, Calif.,
for recuperation.

After War
To Be Studied
Postwar missions will be the
subject of a conference at the
First Evangelical church, Marion
and Summer streets, starting Sat
urday at 2 p.m. with Mrs. J.
Trachsel the speaker, the pastor,
Rev. J. Kenneth Wishart, has an
nounced. From 3 to 4 p.m. four separate
seminars dealing with the post
war missions will be held with
that on Africa led by Rev. E.
Johnson, pastor of the Evangel
istic Tabernacle; on Asia by Mrs.
J. Trachsel of the South Salem
Friends church; on Europe by
Rev. K. Faulkner, and on South
America by Miss Frances.
At the conclusion of the semi
nars, a half hour will be devoted
to prayer for postwar missionary
activity. Mrs. J. Kenneth Wishart
will lead.
The Sunday morning service
will be directed by the Woman's
Missionary society of which Mrs.
L. L. Thornton is the president.
The speaker for this service will
be Rev. K. Faulkner, who was a
missionary to Europe and in
Czechoslovakia at the time of the
German occupation. At the 7:30
night service, the Young People's
Missionary circle will have charge,
under the direction of Mrs. Jay
Cook. Special missionary offerings
will be taken by both these auxili
aries at the Sunday services.
