Announcement of minor ad
justments in the ceilings on soft
wheat flour, designed to permit
Pacific coast and other western
' soft wheat millers, to compete in
an equal basis in the middle west
and east with mills in, those terri
tories, had little influence on
prices. Marketings of wheat in
the soft wheat area of the central
v west are pracically nil.
Traders were inclined to be
cautious on the basis of news dis
patches from Washington that the
new cost of living subsidy plan
will be in operation before con
gress returns next month.
Wheat receipts at major termi
nals declined drastically, only
. 1,859,000 bushels arriving against
3,128,000 bushels a week ago.
Country elevators were reported
as filling rapidly. Grain men said
farmers found it attractive to im
pound wheat under the govern
ment loan in the northwest, where
prices are 3 to 5 cents below the
loan rate.
