Crary, son of Mr. and Mrs. Burt Crary,-will return to his studies at est Point Thursday to complete his remain ing two and one half years pre paring for his commission. Be fore his appointment to the mili tary academy, Crary was station ed with the coast artillery at Fort Stevens. Brown, formerly of route sevent but now residing at 433 South 17th street, has been promoted to a sergeant, he writes. Sgt. Brown is stationed at Camp Hale, Col, with the mountain infantry. He was enroute to California for further orders, k UNIONVALE Roy Wright has been promoted to a sergeant, he writes. He is well and is serving now with- the signal corps in north Africa, according to a message re ceived by his wife in Salem. She spent the weekend with his par ents, j Mr. and Mrs. M. V. WHEATLAND Vernon Cober- ly, son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Coberly, was graduated June 5 from the cook's and baker's school at" Farragut, ; Idaho, receiving the rating of third class petty officer. MT. ANGEL Donald A. Heggie, seaman second class, son of Mrs. Mae Heggie of Mt. Angel, has been transferred from Farragut to a naval training school at San Die go, Calif. He telephoned from Portland T u e s d a y on his way south. His mother and brother, Jimmy, rushed , to Portland to visit with him for a few hours be tween trains. - , - .
