but encountered enough profit
taking bumps toward the finish
to cut initial gains of a point or
more and put many steels, rails,
motors and blue chips in the mi
nus column.
The Associated Press average
of 60 stocks was off .1 of a point
at 50.8. Final advances and de
clines were pretty evenly split
The rail composite suffered a re
cession of .3 of a point while that
for the industrials and utilities
were without; variation. It was
somewhat broader market. 927
Individual issues being traded. Of
these 350 were up, 342 down and
235 unchanged. Transfers to 1,-
298,770 shares against 1,493,300
'Wednesday.
Among favorites touching peaks
fbr the year or longer and ending
with modest improvement were
Loew's, Warner Bros., Omnibus

buck and Westinghouse.
