for inspection.' Each room was
decorated with many flowers.
The outstanding display In the
npper grade room was the air
planes made by the boys; in the

in the primary room the large
victory garden table. Samples of
- school work papers were espe
cially interesting in all parents.

elephant sale as a benefit for child
welfare work, an informal sing
and a late supper.

Hang Plaque at
Camp Adair .
PERRYDALE A large group
from .the, Presbyterian church of
Dallas, went to Camp Adair Sun
day 4o hang a plaque in the rec
reation room which they, furnish
ed. The junior choir were taken
along and all attended services at
the chapel. Women of the group
too cookies and cakes. .Plaques
front th Polk county -Red Cross
are being hung in the rooms at
the rate of about one a week.
The plaque to be hung in the
room furnished by the Ballston,
Bethel . and Perrydale Womens
clubs will go in soon, it is hoped
that ' it will be possible to make
the -trip at night so many of the
men can visit the rooms also. The
groups have a number of articles
to take to the room in addition to
the furnishings already there. ;
Mrs. Lydia Conner of McMinn-
ville spent the first of the week
at the home of her daughter, Mr.
and Mrs. Robert Mitchell. Wednes
day : night she went to Sheridan
with Mrs. Guy Lee to visit her
sister, Mrs. Lizzie Morrison, who
makes her home with Mrs. Lee.
Mr. and Mrs. C. Van Staavern
had as their weekend guests her
cousin, Edward Polsna, - who is
stationed at Camp Adair, and Miss
Lulu Everson Of Salem.
i Miss Peggy Houk of McMinn-
ville spent the weekend here with
her -parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. E.
Houk.
Lert Lee, who is employed now
in the Seattle shipyards, spent
last) Wednesday here visiting his
parents. Mr. Lowen is driving the
school bus now that Lert is gone,

Salem were Saturday dinner

the past in that the general tests
are giving way to those pupils who
particularly need attention. The
most commonly administered vac
cines are I for prevention l of the
more serious communicable dis
eases such as diphtheria, small pox
and tuberculosis. 1 r i j! j
Miss Plett praised the auxiliary
chairman, Mrs. Ernest L. Starr,
as well as Mrs. Titus, in their
help continuously at the pre-school
and school clinics. ; :
Mrs. Titus planned a white ele
phant sale for the child welfare
fund,, with F. M. Powell as auc
tioneer, with the results of $13.55
netted for the work. The local need
for aid .has not been so evident
during the past year but the future
work is being planned ' for. Mrs.
Titus has had '17 years ; state and
county as well as town and unit

30, who has a two-year peniten
tiary jail sentence back of hirn by
his own admission in Florida, is in
Marion county's jail awaiting sen
tence on a window-peeping charge
preferred against him in justice
court Monday. Judge Alf O. Nel
son will pronounce sentence Friday.-

took after Ford and caught him
in an adjoining lot where they held
him until police, called by other
members of the household, arriv
ed. Night Officer Victor Gross-
nickle placed Ford under arrest.
Ford's previous stretches one at
the penitentiary in Florido and one
in a jail, were for house breaking
and 'automobile theft. ' His bail
