Profit Taking
Slows Market
Casualties Minor in
Spotty Session;
Average Drops
NEW YORK, Feb. 16-CdPV-The
stock market came off pretty well
in a brush with profit takers Tues
day although minor casualties
were plentiful.
There were 103 new 1942-43
highs despite the spotty perform
ance generally. Among these were
American Telephone, Public Serv
ice of NJ, American Woolen,
Goodyear, American Can, Texas
Co., and Curtis Publishing.
Low-priced utilities and indus-
' trials again turnea over in large
bldbks but the bulk was less than
that of the day before. Dealings
dwindled after the first hour and
transfers for the full proceedings
totaled 1,182,330 shares compared
with Monday's 1,835,840 which
were the largest since December
30, 1941. The Associated Press
composite of 60 , stocks was off
.1 of a point at 45, first drop in
this barometer since February 8.
' It was another of the broadest
markets of the past year, 930 in
dividual issues being traded. Of
these 395 were down, 268 up and
"267 unchanged.
Union Pacific Releases
Seed Potato Pamphlet
A pamphlet listing all certified
seed potato growers . and dealers
in six mid western and western
states has just been released by
the Union Pacific railroad, J. W.
Jarvis, supervisor of agricultural
- development, announced.
Dealers and growers, with their
location and variety of potato they
handle, are listed for the following
, states: Colorado, Idaho, Oregon,
Utah, Washington and Wyoming.
While names of Nebraska dealers
and growers are not listed, the

Lana, Crane
In Hospital

Actress Lana Turner and Stephen
Crane, whose short-lived marriage
was annulled, 16 days ago, , were
both under doctors care Tuesday

The actress was at her home and
Crane in the Cedars of Lebanon
hospital, where his condition was
reported favorable. His physician
was non-committal, but Crane told
a reporter who visited his hos
pital room that he had suffered a
nervous breakdown. ;
Miss Turner, who'testified at the
time of her annulment that she
was expecting a baby as the re
sult of her marriage to Crane last
July? 17, was ordered to bed by
her doctor after visiting Crane" at
the hospital Tuesday.
A close friend said the strain of
her annulment, together with the
