Betrothal Is
Told at
Dinner.
At a party given on Tuesday
night at the home of ( Mr. and
Mrs. Dave Holtzman for Mrs. M.
Feves (Shirley Cohen), a bride
of a few -weeks, her cousin, Miss
Jean Holtzman, told of her own
engagement to Mr. Herbert Ad-
ler.
Miss Holtzman is the daughter
of Mr, and Mrs. Dave G. Holtz-
. man and her fiance is the son
! of Mrs. R. Ross of New York
city. Mr. Adler is on the edi
torial staff of the Oregonian but
has enlisted in the air corps and
is awaiting call.
Miss Holtzman attended Uni
versity of Washington last year,
and is a sophomore at Willamette
university this "year. Mr. Adler
attended school in Portland. No
date was set for the wedding.
The engagement was- an
nounced by - cards bearing the
names of the couple, and placed
'under the service plates at din
' ner. Their names ,also appeared
on small cakes served as dessert.
The party was a shower for
Mrs. Feves, who will leave soon
to join her husband in Wyoming.
Cards were in play after dinner.

wrapped gifts for girls at Hill
crest school, which they have
done at these parties since their
organization in 1934.
Mrs. Vincent Crane and Mrs.
Peter Di Paolo were guests of
the club.
A lighted tree decorated the
room, clusters of red and blue
bells were arranged on the man
tle. Fir bows and candles com
pleted the decorations for the in
formal evening.
Formal Dance
Is Tonight
- Bain bow girls will dance to
night at the armory, at their an
nual formal dancing party, to
which they- have invited all
'members of the high school and
college set. Decorations are to
be in blue and silver, according
to Miss Margaret Forsythe, who
heads the committee in charge.
Dancing will be from 9 to 12
o'clock and the music will be
furnished by the. Top Hatters,
local musicians.
- A large turnout is expected,
and the committee has an-
: nounced that tickets may be pur
chased at the door of the armory.

ing of the Amity Baptist Mission
circle has been postponed until
January 8, at the home of Mrs.
Edward Lehman, west of Amity,
at 2:31 o'clock, with Mrs. J. O.
Casteel leader.
. LIBERTY The Christian En
deavor society of the Liberty
church are planning to go carol
ing agam. on Christmas eve if
they can arrange some mode of
transportation, perhaps a team
and wagon. 1 J
Residents here have enjoyed
the young folks' carols for sev
eral years and 'some have al
ready expressed the hope that
they may be able to come around
with their songs this year.
Recently the group . made
Christmas boxes of goodies and
gifts for all the boys in the ser
vice who had attended Endeavor
here. .
DETROIT Mrs. Major
Baughn has announced the mar
riage of her sister, Joy Hammon,
to Joe St Lewis, which - took
place December 16. ' Mrs. St.
Lewis was employed in Detroit
: until a year and a half ago, when
she went to Portland. The couple
are residing in Corvallis.

the parents of a son, born in
Spokane on Monday. He is the
first grandchild of Mr. and Mrs.
W. Gordon Black' of Salem, and

Mrs. Black's birthday, Decem
ber 21.

of Butte, Montana, are spending
the holidays with their daughter,

of the Methodist church, cele
bra ting the Roberts' golden wed
ding anniversary. At this event,
