will leave today," to attend ; the
annual ' weekend conference of
business ; and v Industrial : girls
from Oregon J and1 Washington,
to be held today and Sunday at
the Portland YWCA. ,.' .
. The "theme of the conference ,
!s "Victory Workshops In a De
mocracy at War".. Tonight, the
theme of the banquet, "Victory
Headlines', will- be emphacized
in skits given by girls attending
the - conference. Later a recre-
ational program will be given.
Following , Sunday morning
worship service in the chapel of
the YMCA, four - workshop
groups will be held. The first is
on the subject of j. occupational
trends, and will be led by Mrs.
Donald Fields, US employment
service staff member.
The second will be conducted
by Mrs. Frank Cole, president
of the board of the YWCA in
Portland. Her resource will be
Mrs. Lamar Tooze,) of the Ore
gon state consumer office of the
OPA. The third group will be
on club programs, ; led by Mrs.
Gertrude . Eakin, general secre
tary of the Portland YWCA and
Mrs. Verne Dusenberry of the
League of Women 1 Voters. The
fourth will be on a world com
munity, a discussion led by Mr.
Clare Johnson, executive staff
of the Portland YMCA, and Dr.
Richard Steiner, pastor of the
Unitarian church in Portland,
chairman of the USO council and
of the selective service board of
appeals, and Mr. Don Fessler, of
the northwest institute of ' ' in
ternational relations. A busi- .
ness session at noon, will close
the conference.

ready under way to promote a
lasting peace following the pre
sent world war. Her talk opened
a series of programs that the
Zonta club will have on post
war peace theme.

Drill Team Is
In Defense j
The Royal Neighbors drill
team held its last meeting for
this year, on Thursday night, at
the home of Mrs. Charles South,
on North Winter street. An
nouncement was made that the
group has presented the Wom
an's Ambulance Corps with a
completely fitted first aid kit.
. The team plans to postpone
meetings, until after the first- of
the year because members of the
group are . busy with -'defense
f work. Two members are in the
ambulance corps - and -one has :
