Rooney Stars
In Story of
Eton School
This time it's Mickey Rooney in
college,? but it's Eton in Eng
land he goes to, instead cf Notre
Dame in the USA and is he dis
appointed. However, Mickey soon learns
the . beatings of lower boys by
upper class boys in the English
public schools are not glossed nor
explained. He cannot change the
bullying upper boys, nor his half
brother, Freddie Bartholomew,
nor the jcringing lower boys, nor
his immensely tolerant headmas
ter, Edmund Gwenn. He can only
perceive it is all in the ; training
of "men," the inculcation of the
discipline which they will inflict
-upon others in .ruling the British
empire ."'
The picture is a successful ex
.position of Eton life,, with Mickey
-end bis pals in several uproarious
' scenes. That 'in which the, teen
' age Eton boys - best . the tavern
keeper and bis men is especially
funny. ; ; , '.,..;,'' . ?

Planes, " planes and - still' more
planes is the war cry of Atner-

planes keep rolling off the as
sembly lines in an unending
stream. The heart-pounding drama
in the lives of the men and women
who keep 'em rolling is now told
in Warner Bros,, "Wings for the
Eagle," now at the Capitol theatre.
In the leading roles are Ann
Sheridan, whose recent' brilliant
performances In "Kings Row and
"Juke I Girl" ' j won nation-wide
praise, and Dennis Morgan, who
in a short time has made a place
for himself among the ton per
formers in Hollywood. '
Most of the story is set in the
vast Lockheed aircraft plant
where people have come from, all
over the United States to help do
