Mrs. Anna Kaylor Conklin, East

afternoon at 1:30 at aougn-Bar-
rick chapel with Rev. Dudley
B train, , officiating.; Burial was
made in the I.O.O J. cemetery.
Mrs. Conklin was ; born near
Waterloo, Iowa, 72 years ago and
came to Marion county 50 years
ago. - She had lived in and near
Salem since she came to Oregon
25 years, livings on a .farm near
Marion. She is; survived by one
son. Homer J. oCnklin of Salem;
one granddaughter, Norma Jane
Conklin of Salem; brother, Frank
Kaylor of Newport three nieces,
Mrs. Eula Henderson of Salem
Mrs. Mildred Richards of San Di
ego, and Mrs. Elizabeth Abbott of
Mendon, Nebraska.

at 10 o'clock, and later at the
church in Hubbard. Burial will
be in the Hopewell cemetery.; ;
Mr. Emert was born in Tvftna
72 years ago but came to Oregon

bert of Molalla, James, Floyd,
Ivan, George and Rolf of Sweet
Home, j He had 24 grandchildren
and six great grandchildren. Two
sisters live in Indiana.' Mr. Emert
was a carpenter and a member of
the Mennonite church.

the executive committee met at
the . schoolhouse - Thursday and
made plans . for - the ' new - school
year. ; The boy or girt receiving
the most number of points in the
contest is to be given a prize,
while the room having' the high
est score is to receive Hallowe'en

It was decided to carry on the
usual PTA activity for the dura
tion with . fewer meetings, . con
ducting what necessary business
arose between the general meet
ings by the executive committee.
The first regular meeting is to be
held the second Monday in No
vember to observe American Edu
cation week.

TURNER The annual teachers
reception was held Thursday in
the Turner high school honoring
the faculty staff, and sponsored by
the school board members, Tom
Webb, Charlie Standley and Law
rence Edwards.
Tom Webb,, chairman 'of the
board,1, presided, during the pro
gram. A reception was held in
the domestic science room where
autumn flowers . decorated k the
tables, and. ' refreshments were
served by the Sunshine club mem

Richard Holt house. Robertson is
now employed in theshipyards in
Portland. Herman Peetz, Walter
