Dodgers Dunk Cincys Twice to
Lengthen Lead Over Cardinals
. CINCINNATI, July ll-j"P)-The Brooklyn Dodgers) added a
' game and a half to their National league lead Saturday by down-
ing the Cincinnati Reds in both ends of a doubleheader, but it
took a passed ball in the 15th inning to decide the issue in the
nightcap. ....' j-
. Peewee Reese sprinted all the way from second base with
the run that gave the Dodgers the
second game, 3-2, when Catcher
Ray Lamanno let a pitch get past
him. Curt Davis blanked the Reds,
1-4, on four hits in the opener.

In the first game, the -Dodgers
cored four of their runs and
collected six of their seven hits
off starter Ray Starr, who suffered

nightcap. The Reds scored in the

by drawing a walk from Shoun,
who also finished the first game,
and was sacrificed to second by
Lew Riggs. After Aurle Galan
- foaled out, Joe Med wick was at
bat when the ball got away from
Lamanno and Reese , made it to

Senators do exhibition battle with
the Oakland Oaks starting at 8:30

Not only will Monday night's
tussle be the first of Its kind
for Salem fang this season, bat
also the first showing of the
colorful Oaks in Salem. The
Aeorns, managed by ex-major
leagne star third-sacker John
ny Verges, win present a strong
lineup against the Solons In an
effort to break the spell the
Salem team has held on PCL
nines for the past three seasons.;
Only once since Salem entered
the WIL has It lost to a- Coast
loop ootfit. The Senators will
be oat to keep up the record. -
The Oaks will field a potent
lineup consisting of no less 'than
four regulars hitting, over the
charmed .300 mark. Fred Tauby,
centerfielder and cleanup hitter,
leads the Oaks with; the stick,
sporting a .313 average. Next is
Emil Mailho, fleet lead-off hitter
and ex-big leaguer, with .310.
Third is Hugh Luby, second-sack
ing ace with a mark of JOS; and
rounding out the group is - Mel
Deuzeabou, outfielder - infielder,

Outfielder Marvin Gudat, for
many years with the ' Cleveland
Indians and later one of the lead
ing batsmen year in and year, out
with Los Angeles and Oakland,
