CINCINNATI, July ll-j"P)-The Brooklyn Dodgers) added a ' game and a half to their National league lead Saturday by down- ing the Cincinnati Reds in both ends of a doubleheader, but it took a passed ball in the 15th inning to decide the issue in the nightcap. ....' j- . Peewee Reese sprinted all the way from second base with the run that gave the Dodgers the second game, 3-2, when Catcher Ray Lamanno let a pitch get past him. Curt Davis blanked the Reds, 1-4, on four hits in the opener. Coupled with the defeat of He second-place St. Louis Card ials by the New York Giants, the doable victory boosted -. Brooklyn's lead to nine fall !, games. In the first game, the -Dodgers cored four of their runs and collected six of their seven hits off starter Ray Starr, who suffered bis fourth defeat against a dozen wins. The victory was the ninth compared with three losses for Davis, and his fourth shutout Johnny Allen of the Dodgers and Paul Derringer of the Reds opened on the mound in the nightcap. The Reds scored in the first inning on singles by Eddie Joost and Frank McCormick, but the Dodgers tied it up in the second on a walk, a single by TBilly Sullivan and an outfield fly. An error, a walk and an oat field fly gave the Reds a run in the sixth without a hit, bat again the Dodgers tied the score tn the following frame 'on a doable by Billy Herman, a sin gle by Sullivan and -an outfield fly. v Then followed seven scoreless innings, with Newt Kimball, Les Webber, Kirby Higbe and Hugh Casey following Allen to the mound and Joe Beggs and Clyde Shoun succeeding Derringer ior the Reds. j Reese opened the 15th Inning by drawing a walk from Shoun, who also finished the first game, and was sacrificed to second by Lew Riggs.
