Pedeo News PEDEE After ten years' ab sence, Mrs. Mabel Nale and two daughters Evelyn Nale and Edna Hoffman and son Charles, of Chiloquin, 'Wash, are here for a visit at the Sidney Howard home. The ranch on Pedee creek where they lived ten years ago was re cently sold to Mr. and Mrs. Ray Teeters who moved there from McTimmonds valiey last week. At the cavalry meeting Wednes day evening a few more members were signed up. Sidney Howard, Stanley McCoy, D. Simpson and Robert Orr were chosen to attend a school for officers in Salem on Monday evenings. -Children's day will be featured by a basket lunch at the school- houte Sunday. Mrs. Rittie Kerber and Fritz, and Mrs. Clell Kerber and Rose, were in Dallas Wednesday. Mrs. Rufus Dodge, who recent ly completed a course in advanc ed first aid, had occasion to apply her knowledge when Ellis Camp bell received a severe cut on his arm Wednesday while working fcr the Simpson lagging company. Guests at the home of Rittie and Fritz Kerber Sunday included Demand for Hay Increased Farmers will want to take par ticular stock of their hay situa tion and supply for the eotmna year. In view of the possible shortage, says W. G. Niblet, as sistant county agent, livestock numbers on the . coast have in creased in the past year so that the coast, which grows little of its own hay will be calling for more from the valley and eastern Ore gon. The past hard winter east of the ' mountains has reduced the probable yield of alfalfa to quite a degree so that heavier nemands win be made this year on the Willamette valley for hay. Since last year's carry over in eastern Oregon was largely used up last winter, it is anticipated that very little hay will be shipped out of many regions. Taking into consideration these facts, Nibler suggests that where- ever possible farmers make ar rangements for their hay im mediately so that the true de mand for hay will become more evident. Farmers who are plan ning to buy should arrange for their supply or should plan to cut other crops for hay. In some cases lodged grain would be bet ter cut for hay, at least in spots. Some fields of cover crop seeds, such as vetch or peas have grown rank in spots and seed will not fill, and could be cut for hay. This is particularly true of hairy vetch. T-vons News LYONS Mr. and Mrs. Earl Al len and Bob Brassfield fished the Belknap hot springs Sunday.
