Table arrangements represented seasons of the year. Following the social hour, Mrs. Byron B. Herrick, chairman of the state nominating committee, reported on candidates running, among whom are Miss Hilda gwenson, unopposed for presi dent, and Miss Edna McElhaney, unopposed candidate for corre sponding secretary for the state federation, both members of the Salem club. . President Carolyn Wilson was chosen delegate to - the state convention in Roseburg in May. Tha luncheon set woven by Miss Leatha Pelly was se- ltcted as Salem's entry In the competitive handcraft display to be featured at the state conven tion. A contribution of $15 was voted toward the establishment ' of a recreation center for service men. The club also ' voted to sponsor a girl at the YWCA camp this summer. Plans wera formulated to extend an Invi tation to have the M4S state convention in Salem, and to have a "birthday offering, each mem ber contributing an amount equal to her age to the conven tion expenses. Miss Josephine Evans, 639 Center street, Sat urday. j Orchestra to Play Program An all-school orchestra will Iive an evening's program May in the Salem high school audi torium under the direction of Vernon" Wiscarson, Raymond Carl and Leslie Carson. Child ren will be admitted free, a small charge to be made for adults. The all-school junior orches tra is made up of 60 selected musicians from eight grade and two junior high schools. During the program featured numbers will be given by a string trio, trombone quartet, flute, oboe, baritone and French horn solo ists. On Wednesday night, May 6, , the high school orchestra, under the direction of Vernon Wiscar son, will present a concert in the high school. The rooms were festive with bouquets of pastel colored tulips. Receiving were Miss Eleanor Todd in a red and white frock, Miss Betty Sackett, house pres ident, who wore white with a print top. Poppies to Be On Sale The poppy sales committee and Junior auxiliary of the American Legion auxiliary met Monday to work on the 7500 poppies for the sale May 22-23. Home Rites Event of Week - Miss Marjorie Walker became Mr. Dall Sullivan's bride Wed nesday night. The ceremony took place at the home of the bride's brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. James A. Byers. The 8:30 o'clock service was read by Rev. Robert Hutchinson of the First Congregational church. The couple exchanged their vows before the fireplace bank ed with bouquets of pink snap- dragons, white lilies and can dles. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. Q. Walker. For her wedding she chose a powder blue dressmaker suit with pink hat and blouse. Her accessories were of doeskin and her flowers were pink roses and bouvardia. For going away she wore the matching top coat Mrs. Gilbert Anderson was her sister's only attendant and she wore an RAF blue tailleur with white accessories. Her cor sage was of roses and sweet peas. Mr. Anderson was Mr. Sullivan's best man. A reception for members of the immediate family followed tha wedding.
