Nutrition Glass ;
to Be Given
Mrs. George H. Swift, presi
dent of the Salem Woman's club, :
is announcing today ' that the
club is sponsoring a Red Cross .
nutrition class and - the first
meeting will be held on Mon
day, March 23, at the clubhouse -on
North Cottage street between .
Center and Marion. ' v'K
The classes will be held from
2 to 4 o'clock for ten. consecu
tive weeks and , the classes . are
open to the public as well as ''
club members.' This is the first;
class to be given under the '
auspices of the nutrition division '
of the Red Cross. ,
The subject is basic jiutrition
stressing the feeding of the fam-;
ily and adequate use of foods
now available.' To persons com-.
pleting the course a Red Cross -certificate
will be given and will;
entitle them to take a canteen
course; to be offered at a later
date. . ;
The instructor will be v Mrs.
Bjarne Ericksen, who has com-;
pleted the refresher, course in
home economics given by the
Red Cross. Mrs.'. Ericksen Is a
graduate in home economics at
Oregon State college and was
a demonstrator in home' eco
nomics for the General Electric
company in Portland.
Mrs. J. Deane Patterson is
taking registrations for the
course and it is advisable to
register early before the quota
is filled. Mrs. Patterson may be
reached at 5287.

On March 8, Miss June Welch,
daughter of Mrs. Myrtle Welch
of Portland and Mr. Maurice
Welch of Salem, became .the
bride of Mr. John R. Simmons,
son of Mrs. Theo B. Waldrow
of Bryant, South Dakota. The
wedding ceremony was perform
ed by Rev. StuarTGoude in the
parsonage of the First Congre-:
gational church 'in Vancouver,

The bride was given away by
her father. She wore a powder
blue street dress and an orchid
corsage. Mrs. Darrell Simmons
of Salem attended her and Mr.
Simmons was best man. ,
The bride's mother, wore a
dusty pink street dress and a
regal lily corsage. The reception
was held at her. home in Port
land. '; . ; ,
The young couple are former
Salem residents. The bride is
at - the First National bank.' in
Portland and the groom is study
ing dental technology. They will
live in Portland. , -
Drv and Mrs. Frank Erickson
have" returned " from " a " four
months', stay in California with
members of their ' family. In
Santa Barbara they were guests
of Dr.5 Mary 'Erickson and in
Sacramento visited with ; Mr.
and . Mrs. - Herbert Erickson.

they joined them on a vacation
