One uses water (a fine spray only on the bomb it-. self) and tho other sand. Both are comparatively simple and may be used by the householder in pro tecting his property. - ' Water as "bomb fighter", was discussed in the last article. So -now let's consider the method which utilizes dry sand. It is high ly important that the sand be dry. Dry it in the basement or In the house. Important too: Get it now. A half bucket or so of sand, will . help materially te control the ' bomb, and Is . effective la . the . removal of bomb. Using sand, approach the bomb with shovel , and bucket of sand; shoves the sand from the backet onto the' bomb,- leaving two or three inches of sand In the bot tom of. the backet ' Then quickly pick the bomb up (the loose sand will help control the flame) with the shovel and place it in the bucket on top of the sand that was left Then scoop up sand left on the floor or from another bucket and: place' it on top of . the bomb in the first bucket r - , Now remove bucket bomb and all, to some less vulnerable point outside. Youll probably carry the bucket out suspended from . the handle of the shovel! 'The sand method does not extinguish ' the bomb,' but it makes it possible to nandle.it Neither does it help in putting out fires started by the bomb; that is, incidental fires at tacking floor, chair, bed and so on. Next: Simplified equipment for fighting bombs. ' Permit Granted Marion coun ty court Tuesday granted to Rex C. Ayres a permit to haul logs over specified county roads.
