note and a surprise handker

ed the Sigma Tau mothers at a
dessert luncheon Friday after
noon at her home on the Wal
lace road. Mrs. Blodgett presided
at the business meeting which
followed the luncheon.

The young people's department
of Calvary Baptist Sunday school
held aarty in the lower fire
place room of the church Thurs
day night. Informal games and
relays formed the entertainment
planned by the girls as a result
of losing a recent attendance
contest The closing devotional
period was led by Miss Audry
Peterson. A late supper was
served.

At Party I
Miss Loris Harlan was hon
ored Thursday at a party given
by the Daughters unit of the
VFW auxiliary at the E. W.
Wickert home in the Keizer dis
trict. Loris left Friday with her
mother, Mrs. Ralph Harlan to
live in Mason City, Wash., where
Mr. Harlan is employed. Games
were played and a gift from the
unit was presented by Miss Joan
Hoereth. Luncheon was served
at the large dining table.
The girls included: The Misses
Dorothy and Barbara Cady, Joan
Hoereth, Cornelia Strayer, Rose
mary Shattuck, Marilyn Hart,

Miss Bernice Lee is the honor
guest at several informal affairs
prior to her departure the first
of the week for Bremerton where
she has been called to active
duty with the navy reserve. Miss
Lee has been head of the ob
stetrical department at the Sa
lem General-hospital.

ian and Miss Jesse McDonald
have invited 40 of Miss Lee's
friends to an "at home" at their
residence on Breys avenue. Call-:
ing hours are from 5 to 7 o'clock.

where he will attend the nation
al canners convention. He will
return in ten days and will come ,
by way of California to visit
with his son-in-law and daugh
ter, Lt. and Mrs. Harry Carson.
Rites Held at
St. Joseph's
St. Joseph's Catholic church
was the setting for the marriage
of Miss Mary Dauenhauer and
Mr. David Traglio, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Wilbur Traglio of
Portland, formerly of Salem,
Friday morning at 10 ,0'clock
with Father T. J. Bernards of
ficiating. The bride wore a white satin
gown and tulle veil. She carried
a shower bouquet of white
flowers. After" the wedding a
breakfast honored the coMple at
the home of the groom's grand
mother, Mrs. Ida Traglio.
The couple will reside in
Portland where he is with
Montgomery-Ward and com
pany. Mr. Traglio attended Sa
lem schools and was-prominent
in athletics.
