i Service men Whet Thy Aro What They're. Doing S KEIZER Two boys from here have enlisted in the marines. They left last week for San Diego to start their training. They are Howard McCall, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred S. McCall, ' and Joe Hampton, jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hampton. They attended Sa lem schools. ; SCIO Pvt. H. N. "Spud" Mc Donald writes from the Marine training base at San Diego to greet Scio friends. McDonald enlisted in the marine air corps December 27, as did tJeorge Rerucha, also of Scio. "Spud1 is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald McDonald and is a 1938 graduate of Scio high school. Dick E. Parke and George M. McLeod, both of Salem, Leonard E. Needles, SUverton, and Ray mond F. McCormick, Woodburn, enlisted in the army Tuesday through the Portland recruiting office. Staff Sgt John A. Wright, who has been in charge of the marine recruiting office here for the past six months, has been transferred to the station at Lewiston, Idaho, and will leave here Saturday. First Sgt .Paul Skelton, from the Portland recruiting office, will take charge here. ' Harold David Abbott, former Willamette university law stu dent, received his silver wings and commission as a second lieuten ant in the US air corps. Abbott has been training at the army air corps flying school at Luke field, Phoenix, Ariz. - MONMOUTH James C. Chat zauk, who enlisted in the air corps the day after the Pearl Harbor at tack, is now stationed at an Illi nois post training for aviation, he wrote his grandmother, Mrs. C. C. Yeater here this week. Chatzauk completed a three year enlistment in the field artillery at Fort Lew Is last September. He attended Monmouth schools before enter ing military service. PRESCOTT, Ariz. -(JP)- "The marines won't take me because I'm short two teeth," 20-year old Jack Jones dejectedly told his den tist. Dr. Taylor took x-rays- and found two rear molars Imbedded In the gums.
