December 25, 1941 Engagement Of Couple Told At a Christmas eve party Miss Myrtle Herigstad and Mr. Lloyd Reinwald announced their en gagement and plans for their coming marriage. The bride-, elect is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lars Herigstad of Wood burn and her fiance is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Rein wald of Salem. The romantic news was told at a family gathering and dinner - at the Henry Reinwald home Christmas eve. The couple will be married on Sunday, January 25 at the American Lutheran church at an 8 o'clock ceremony. Christmas packages filled with rice and cards bearing the names of the couple revealed the news. Holiday decorations were used on the dinner table and about the rooms. Covers were placed for the members of the two families. The bride-elect attended Woodburn schools and Mr. Rein wald is a graluate of Salem high school and later attended Wil lamette university. He is now connected with Krueger's grocery. Dr. and Mrs. J. Harry Moran and Mrs. Pearl Reed left for Yakima Wednesday to spend Christmas with Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Reed and children, James and Michael. Mrs. Reed is a daughter of the Morans and Mr. Reed is Mrs. Pearl Reed's son. Mrs. Reed will re turn home Friday and the Morans will remain for the week end. A Secretary of State and Mrs. Earl Snell and son Bill, will be in Portland for Christmas as dinner guests of Mr. Snell's mother, Mrs. John Phillips. Miss Zwicker Betrothed A family Christmas eve party was held at the Otto F. Zwicker residence. Presents were ex changed by a Christmas tree. This was the setting for the announcement of the engagement of M4ss Marianne Zwicker. daughter of the late Otto F. Zwicker, to Mr. Charles Esplin, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Esplin. The wedding will be an event of Easter Sunday, April 5. The immediate family that were present are as follows: Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Lewis, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Zwicker, Mr. and Mrs. Vireil Zwicker. Ransom, Miss Martha Car penter, Mr. Ranson Carpenter and his fiance, Miss Mildred Sampson. Mrs. James G. Heltzel is in Eugene for the holiday season at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Hamby. Mrs. Heltzel's son, Mr. James Heltzel, now of San Francisco, drove north for the holidays. His wife, who is in Key West, will join him in San Francisco after the first of the year. Mrs. Margaret Rosecrans met her sister, Miss Frances Hodge, In Portland Wednesday and they drove north to Tacoma to be with their brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. E. Paul Todd for the holidays. Mr. and Mrs. Karl Becks, Miss Miriam and Miss Marjorie Becke are spending the holidays in Portland with Mrs. Becke's mother, Mrs. Annie Becke. Also in Aurora today at the Becke home are Mr. and Mrs. E. T. Pierce and Miss Barbara Pierce of Portland. Mr. and Mrs. John Carson, Jane and Ann, will be in Mar quam for the holidays with Mrs. Carson's parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Allbright. Mr. and Mrs. George Allbright of Florence, formerly of Salem, came north for Christmas. Leave for Beach Several Salem couples are spending the holidays at the beach. Dr. and Mrs. Kenneth Waters and daughters, Clarice, Claudia and Marilyn will be at their Summer place at DeLake for the remainder of the week. They have as their guests, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Parks of New berg. Mr. and Mrs. George R. K. Moorhead and sons, Van and ' Bruce, and Mrs. H. H. Vande vort are spending the holiday at their beach home at Road's End. Mr. and Mrs. Claude Murphy and their daughters, Miss Doris of Florence and Miss Lucille Murphy of Portland and son, Mr. Kenneth Murphy of Salem, will be in Albany today as din ner guests of Mr. and Mrs. D. E. Brunskill. Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Bone steele and children, Marianne and Wallace, jr. are in Seattle for the holidays as guests of Mrs. Bonesteele's brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. John Walls.
