Losses at the worst ranged from 1 to 7 points but many bell-weath- ! ers met support in the final few minutes and closed above their day's bottoms. At that, net de clines ran to as Much as 6 points in some instances. - The Associated Press average of 60 stocks was off 1.4 points at 36.7, lowest mark for this bar ometer since April 7, 1938. It was well under, the figure recorded when the British retreated to Dunkerque in .May, 1940. Turn over of 2,555,200 shares compared with 2027,960 the day before and ! also was the largest since May of last year. Prominent share declines were Douglas Aircraft, off 6; Ameri can Telephone 4; Johns-Man- ville, 4V4; J. I. Case, 5; Union Pacific, 3; Sears Roebuck, 2; and Bethlehem Steel 2. Patino Mines was an exception with a jump of 1 to a new 1941 high. It was the broadest market since May 21, 1940, as 1,006 individual stocks were traded. Of these 866 were off, 51 up and 89 unchanged.
