Deadening felt was nailed to the joists, then a 'spacer and it was finished with Firtex The five schoolrooms in the build ing have to take turns using the playroom for their recesses, so it was necessary to have it soundproofed. Funeral Set For Highway Engineer Funeral services for Jasper N Bishop, chief maintenance engi neer of the state highway depart ment, who died Monday at the age of 52 years, will be at o'clock this afternoon from the First Congregational church. Rev. Robert A. Hutchinson is to officiate. Bishop, who had held the position since 1932, had been on the department's engineering staff almost continuously since 1913. Death followed a short ill ness in a hospital. The engineer was born in Charleston, 111., joined the Ore gon department as chairman. In 1917 he resigned to become lo cating engineer with the Idaho highway department, followed by engineering work with the Idaho Irrigation company. He returned to Oregon depart ment in 1920 to serve as resident engineer, locating engineer, dis trict maintenance engineer and chief of maintenance. For a short time in 1925 he was chief engi neer of the Portland Southwest ern railway. Survivors are the widow. Vera; son, Edwin, a student at Oregon State college: sister, Mrs. Nellie Gowdy of Los An geles, and a brother, E. B. Bi shop of Orlando, Calif. Pallbearers at the funeral are Realtors Join In Opening of New Offices C. V. Johnson, veteran Salem realtor, will be associated with N. J. Lindgren in conducting a general real estate business at 175 South High street, it was an nounced on Tuesday. Lindgren has been engaged In the real estate business since 1904 and has made Salem his head quarters since 1934. Johnson was appointed state real estate com missioner when the first Oregon real estate law went into effect and held this office through the administrations of Governor OI cott, Patterson, Norblad and Meier. Six years ago he became assocl ated with. the office of J. F. Ul rich as an individual broker, con tinuing there until September of this year.
