ton people expect to return before
the Christmas holidays.

LYONS Mrs. Melbourne Ram-
bo and Mrs. Ivan Day were host
esses for the November social
meeting of the Lyons Woman's
club held at the community hall
Thursday.
Mrs. Percy Hiatt club president,
gave a short summary ot the club
work. Mrs. Roy Huber gave a
reading. Quiz games completed an
afternoon of fun.

Bridge Repair
Starts Monday
SILVERTON Members of the
state highway department were
at Silverton Thursday miking
minor repairs on the Main street
steel bridge. Before leaving town,
they indicated that the real re
pair work on this bridge would
begin Monday.
Some months ago the Main
street bridge at Silverton was
pronounced unsafe for heavy
traffic. Within the past few
weeks, the state commission
agreed to take over the repair
and maintenance of the bridge
until June of next year.
Recently, wear and tear on the
bridge have Been very noticeable
and some fear of a serious acci
dent before repairing it done has
been expressed.

killed instantly while crossing the
main street in Lafayette Thurs
day; He was struck by an auto
mobile driven by an unnamed
man living near the 'Carlton-Lafayette
highway. Freel was blind
ed by rain on his glasses. '
He is survived .by his widow, I
two sons and two daughters, all
of Lafayette. The sons are' Walter
and Amos; the daughters, Mrs.
Wayne Huffman and Grade Lou.
