The wedding is planned for
early January in Springfield,
Mass.
Miss Raitanen is a graduate of
the University of Oregon and a
member of Sigma Kappa. She
taught at Silverton before going
to Pendleton, where she is now
teaching. Mr. Cady is a graduate
of Middlebury college and took
graduate work at Northwestern
and Columbia.

The news was made known to
Eugene friends recently when
Miss Frink and Miss Elizabeth
Eades were joint hostesses hon
oring Miss Roma Theobald of
Los Angeles, bride-elect of Phil
ip Tillman of Eugene.
Mr' Feasley, who is a graduate
of the University of Oregon and
a member of Phi Delta Theta, is
with the United States marine
corps now stationed at Treasure
Island. Miss Frank is a former
university student and a member
of Alpha Phi.
Last Sunday Mr. and Mrs. C.
H. Hassler entertained a group
of friends and relatives In honor
of the 50th anniversary of their
marriage, which was solemnized
at the home of the bride's par
ents, Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Charlton
in Crabtree. One of the most
unusual things about the celebra
tion was that Mrs. - Hassler's
mother who was born near here
87 years ago, was able to enjoy
the gathering. Both the brides
maid and groomsman of fifty
years ago were present Mr. and
Mrs. William Garland of Albany,
both of whom are double cousins
of both Mrs. and Mr. Hassler.
Other members of the original
wedding party were Mrs. Anna
Bailey of Spokane, sister of Mrs.
Hassler; William May, Mr. and
Mrs. Arthur Gaines and Mrs.
Addie Poindexter, uncles and
aunts of Mrs. Hassler and Mrs.
Hassler's one brother, Henry
Hassler of Stayton. A cousin who
attended the wedding 50 years
ago, Mrs. Winnie McBride, came
from Elma, Wash.
Other relatives and friends ,
came from Salem, Portland,
Shedd, Scio, Stayton, Mill City,
Albany, Phoenix, Monmouth as
well as from Crabtree and Leb
anon. A banquet was held in the
scout house, which was elabor
ately decorated with large bas
kets of chrysanthemums and a
gold wedding cake made by the
bride's sister, Mrs. Bailey.
Mr. and Mrs. Hassler have
three children who were present
with their families. Lloyd Hass
ler lives near Spokane; Van Hass
ler in Lebanon and Mrs. O. J.
Downing in Mill City. Their
three grandchildren were also
present Mrs. Dwight Cather
wood of Phoenix, Oregon; Max
ine Downing student at the
Oregon College of Education in
Monmouth and Ruby Downing of
Mill City.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Hassler
were born on their parents' do
nation land claims near Lebanon
and have spent their entire lives
in this vicinity.

Kingwood auxiliary plans were
made to give the organization's
contribution to the Roseburg
Veterans' hospital gift shop. A
benefit card party was planned
for Wednesday, November 26.
The auxiliary will serve lunches
in the dining hall during the day
of the turkey shoot November 16.

beach home at Neskowin where
they have been vacationing for

for weekend visitors.
Alpha Chi Omega won the first
prize for the best sign among the
sororities. Marietta DePrez
worked industriously with the
rest of the Alpha Chis painting
the UCLA bear on a loop-o-plane
with the Oregon State Beaver
at the controls. The loop-o-plane
really rotated to make the Bruin
plenty dizzy. Delta Upsilon won
the first prize among the frater

mates and renewed college ac
quaintances. Norman Sholseth, Bill Thomp
son, and Jim Hatfield were out
in trucks gathering old tires and
