Langmack of Lebanon, Ore., killed Monday when the plane in which he was flying crashed near Suf field, 25 miles west- of here, was forwarded Wednesday to Al bany, Ore., for burial. Langmack, a member of the Royal Canadian air force, had - been flying since the age of 16 years when he built his own plane. Killed with him in Monday's crash was Squadron Leader J..L. Ashfold of Plymouth, England, a Royal air -force officer temporar ily attached to the RCAF. They were flying a plane from No. 34 service flying training school of the RAF here. Sqdn. Ldr. Ashfold's body was forwarded Wednesday to Ottawa where he will be buried with full military honors. Langmack, native of Lebanon, received flying lessons at the Salem airport in 1931 from Lee U. Eyerly, president of Eyerly Air craft Co., when,' the latter was conducting his aviation school here, Eyerly said Wednesday night. ' Son of R. L. Langmack of Leb anon, the flying officer is survived by his parents, two brothers, Dr. R. S. Langmack, Sweet Home, and Lt Charles Langmack, stationed at McChord Field, and four sisters. Nary Photograph Plans Jor mass production of a new type of cargo ship, radically designed, have been announced by the navy as the first of the new ships, called the Sea Otters, was made ready for launching at Orange, Tex, where It was built At the same time proposals to arm tha ships with anti-aircraft guns were revealed. President Roosevelt has visioned these vessels as tha answer to Atlantic freighter losses. The ships carry only a small crew and have a range of 7,000 miles. A Sea Otter, the first of which is . pictured on the ways, can be turned out in two months. Oregon Art Fund Okehed v WASHINGTON, Sept 25-P)-The president has approved a $145,146 allocation to carry out a state-wide art project in Oregon, Senator McNary (R-Ore.) was told by the works projects ad ministration Thursday. JP)- Jesse Wright garage owner and pigeon fancier, ran out of gasoline in the business section. He was out of money, too. He took a carrier pigeon from a box in his stalled car, scribbled a note, tied it to the pigeon's leg and liberated the bird. Half an hour later an attendant from Wright's garage appeared with the pigeon and five gallons of gas. HARTFORD, Conn. -(IP)- On the third anniversary of the New England hurricane a Hartford Courant reporter went around asking people at random: "Where were you when the hurricane struck?"
