Willamette graduates from the dramatics department have been doing things this summer, and are continuing to accom plish things in their line of work, which looks well for the department. Arthur Olson, play contest winner of last year, of "Little Brown Jug" fame, is playing the lead in "RUR" with the com munity players in Long Beach, California. Mary Elizabeth Kells and Bet ty Irvine are playing the part of the sisters in "The Barretts," playing at the University of Washington's Showboat theatre. Everett Andrews is in "Ber tha the Beautiful Sewing Ma chine Girl" at the Seattle Reper toiry theatre. He is also theatre electrician. D. DeLancey,, who took the lead in many Willamette plays, has been leading man at the Barn theatre in Cleveland. Helen' Newlands, another of Willamette's favorite leading ladies, won a scholarship at the Pricilla Beach theatre colony at Plymouth Rock, Mass. She was one of the few to be cast every week and was given the' lead in "Fresh Fields" along toward the last of the season. Genevieve Oppen, head of the department at Willamette for several years, and an excellent actress in her own right, won a reading fellowship at the Uni versity of Oregon and will study at the northern university to ward her master's degree. She has been given a year's leave of absence. Her position will be filled by Mrs. Margaret Ring nalda, who taught dramatics in California before moving to Salem.
