Mrs. John L. Rand is, home now from a sev eral month's stay in Baker and eastern Oregon. . . . Mrs. George Rossman has more or less been unsettled all summer . . . their house has been completely re modeled and they have been liv ing in the late Judge Bean's ; house. ... They will soon be i back in their home and ready to 'receive callers. . . . Mrs. Leslie Scott came down from Portland and remarked that she loves Salem and thinks it is a very , social place and is always anx ious to accept invitations to the capital city. ... EXCITING vacation for Ruth Melson, home from a sojourn in. San Francisco, Lake Ta hoe, Reno and Carson City. . . Last summer Ruth went to Alaska and met two San Fran cisco girls on the boat and this year .went south to visit with them.. . . They spent two weeks at - Lake. Tahoe and stayed at Young's Bijou, an exclusive re sort hotel. . . . They went swim ming and dancing every day and met James Garfield, the actor. ... In Carson City they went on location with Paramount studios and saw the filming of "The Remarkable Andrews" and personally met and talked to the leading stars, Brian Donlevy, Ellen Drew and Bill Holden. ... They ate dinner at the Para mount table and became ac 4 quainted with the director. . . . The girls found the stars very entertaining . and enjoyed every -minute of their . stay. . . . Ruth has several pictures taken of she and the girls with the stars. Ruth came home with one of the cleverest lapel pins we have seen. The name is "Kiss the , Boy's Good-bye" ... a gold hand on red lips and two gold chains bejfring the army and air -corps insigmas. HOME AGAIN . . . Mrs. James C. Drury and her children, Joan, Jimmy and John, who have made their home in New York City where Professor Drury is with the School of Commerce, New York university, are now in Ore gon. . . . The Drurys have a hun dred acre Sandune ranch south of Newport . , ...their land goes from the highway to the ocean front. . . . Professor Drury will be here during the summer months and for Christmas. ... v She is now supervising construc tion of their new home on the - ranch and . hopes they will be moved by November 1. . . ; Their summer home is at Agate Beach where their eastern furniture is now stored. . . . On the ranch is - the only cultivated blueberry acreage , in Oregon and Mrs. Drury supervises the picking, caring and selling of the berries. . . . She says there is nothing like the quiet peaceful west after living for years in the big east ern cities. ... Trindle Girls Are Home Miss Eleanor and Miss Helen Trindle, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. William H. Trindle, arriv ed home by train Saturday morning from a southern and eastern trip. , Miss Eleanor Trindle left Sa lem in August to meet her sister in Durham, North Carolina. Miss Helen has been a student dieti cian at the Duke university hos pital the past year. After leaving Durham the girls went north to Richmond and Williamsburg, Virginia, Washington, DC, and New York "City, where they visited with Mr. and Mrs: William Kennedy (Margaret Doege). They came home by way of Niagara Falls, Chicago, Lake Louise, Vancou ver and Victoria, BC, and Seat tle. Miss Helen Trindle has ac cepted a position as dietician at the Port Angeles, Wash., hos pital for the ensuing year. She will leave the first of October. Hospital Group Will Meet The Deaconess Hospital aux iliary will hold the first meet ing of the fall on Monday, Sep tember 15th, at the hospital at 2 o'clock. This will be the annual meet ing when all committees and officers give their reports. The nominating committee has a complete list of- names, to be presented and after the election Mrs. Ruth Tooze will conduct the installation service. Mrs. J.
