Towsley vs. Helen 7. Sanderson
and Credwyn Sanderson the Jury
at 5:45 pxo. Tuesday, after spend
ing! some two hours In their de
liberations, returned verdict In
favor of the plaintiff and awarded
him $9,375 In damages. . .
The action was centered around ,
an auto-truck accident on the
Salmon. River cutoff when a car,
driven by Credwyn Sanderson
crashed into the truck driven by
Towsley. The damages given the
plaintiff are believed to exceed"
any amount ever allowed before
in a case of this kind in the cir
cuit court of this county.
Bruce Spaulding was counsel
for the -plaintiff and- Francis
Marsh, counsel for the defendant
Two years ago Spaulding was also
counsel in a successful damage
suit when his client received
damages in excess of $8,000.
Robert T. Shurtluff, arrested at
the Horst company hopyard Tues
day on a charge of larceny by
bailee, spent the - night in the
Polk county jail awaiting the ar
rival of peace officers from Linn
county, where the warrant for his
arrest was issued.
Ernest Martin, arrested Tuesday
on an assault and battery charge,
asked for a hearing on his case
and was released on his own rec
ognizance. He is slated to appear
in justice court Monday.
