HEW YORK, . June 1H)-De-spite
a slight letdown today, the
Stock market on the week scored
its best net advance since last
September.
The list exhibited the usual Sat
urday hesitancy and, while there
were scattered strong issues, light
selling lapping over from Friday
put most leaders down fractions to
a point .
The Associated Press average of
60 stocks turned in a loss of .1 of
a point at 41.4 in the two-hour
session but for the week retained
a net advance of one full point'
Except for slight declines on June
6, yesterday and today, the com
posite had been on the upside
since the start of the month.
Offerings were relatively small
throughout the- short proceedings
and transfers totaled 193,620
chares compared with 183,930 a
week ago. r -
In the face of the lower market
trend, there were a number of
hew highs for 1941 registered.
Among these were Atlantic Gulf
& West Indies preferred and com
mon which, jumped 4 and 2y
points, respectively. " Others were
Standard Oil (NJ) and Armour

With this retreat, the market
showed a new loss CI slightly
more than a cent compared with
a week ago. Traders said the op

day offset wet weather damages
inflicted on wheat in the south
west where harvest is being de
