growers have received word that
their request for a transient labor
camp has been acted upon favor
ably by the Farm Security ad
ministration. ! : '
The 'camp will be east of town
between Lebanon and Crabtree on
the Brewster property. Construc
tion of 50 tent foundations win
be started at once as the peak of
the berry season is expected by
May 20. It is hoped that the camp
can be expanded to accommodate
250 families.
The! farm security administra
tion furnishes tents and tent f oon
dations. portable shower baths.
laundry trays, hot and cold wa
ter with an automatic pressure
system, electric lights and sard
tarv facilities as well as a com
munity center tent and clinic. -
Though there , will be a mana
ger and administrative assistants,
the camp will be self governed
with (committees for recreation,
religious, and educational activi
ties. Each family using the equip
ment jwfll be expected to do two
hours work a week toward camp
maintenance. Probably a fee of
10 cents will be charged per day
the money to finance camp rec
reation and to help destitute f am
