First Baptist
Celebrates
Anniversary
Mother's day -will be observed
at the First Baptist church with
sermon by the pastor on "An Ex
ample of Motherhood." Corsages
will be given to the oldest mother,
the youngest mother and the moth
er having the largest number of
children present
This will also mark the fourth
anniversary of the pastorate of Dr.
Irving A. Fox. During this time
413 members have been added to
the church membership. Benevo
lent giving has practically tripled
In this period. The church also
has enlarged its activity in the
branch Sunday school it maintains
at Hayesville, this Sunday school
having an attendance of 119. The
church also has contributed sub
stantially to . the support of re
ligious education in the public
school system. f I
The church at the Wednesday
meeting elected Rev. and Mrs.
Fox as delegates to the northern
Baptist convention to be held1 at
Wichita, Kas., May 21 to 26. They
will leave Salem Monday morning,
going first to Grants Pass, where
they will be in attendance at the
Oregon Baptist convention.
Sunday night the pastor will
continue his message on the Book
of Revelation, the topic being "The
Fall of Babylon," taken from the
18th chapter.

"Churchless Communities and
Their Needs" will be the theme of
a home missions program to be
held Sunday at 7:45 pja, at the
Immanuel Baptist church, North
Hazel and Academy streets. Rev.
Jesse W. Baker, missionary in cen
tral Oregon for the American Sun
day school union will be guest
speaker. He will present the needs
of unreached communities and
show colored pictures of his work.
Mr. Baker and his wife will sing
several musical selections, and
Mrs. Baker will speak to the young
people at 7 o'clock.
