Marion hotel .and all interested
persons are "invited to view the
tables from 8 to 10 o'clock.

may enter a table and the classi
fications are formal, informal
and occasional and may be ax- .
ranged for luncheons, dinners

eral parties arranged to honor
the popular bride-elect, last
minute fittings and trousseau
shopping. It was only last week
that Eleanor announced that
she and Roger would be mar
ried on Saturday, April 26.
St. Paul's Episcopal church
will be the setting for the wed
ding and the bride's father, Rev.
George Herbert Swift, will per
form his daughter's marriage
ceremony at 8 o'clock. Mr. Rol
Jin K. Page will give ,Miss Swift
in marriage.
The bride-elect has asked her
younger sister, Miss Jean Claire
Swift, to be her maid of honor
and her bridesmaids will be Miss

i ' Today marks the beginning of the 60th anniversary cele
bration of the younger girls' work of . the Young" Women's
Christian association. Sixty years' agothe YWCA in Oakland,
Calif, started a program to entertam'someVounge
came with the adults to the association. That was the begin
ning of a national movement which how totals" over 350,000
Girl Reserve members. - - ..
: The Vesper service will open
the week's celebration today at
3:30 o'clock at the First Baptist
church, when all the Girl Re
serves of Salem join in a ser
vice of worship. The public is
invited to attend.
Miss Delvon Long, of the high
school Girl Reserves, will pre
side. Other members taking ac
tive part Mrs. Karl Becke, pres
ident of the YWCA, -Miss Lillian
Oliver, Miss Pat Schneider and
a Girl Reserve choir, all of Sa
lem, and a group of Girl Re
serves from the Chemawa In
dian school.
This service, which has been
written by a committee of girls
in Oakland, Berkeley and San
Francisco, California, is being
used by similar groups all over
the country.
The plan for the service has
been adapted to use in Salem
by a committee which includes':

party will be a nation-wide Girl
Reserve broadcast over the
NBC Red network from Wash
ington, DC, with Mr. Charles
P. Taft II speaking. The broad
cast will come over KGW at
1:30 o'clock and will be follow
ed by a broadcast of Portland
Girt Reserves. The girls here
will cut a large cake with its
sixty candles.

show was scheduled for Wed

the club found how successful
it had turned out, it was held

chid and purple . . . The parrot
tulips and Dutch iris formed
many a bouquet ... A few of
