Recovery Symptoms
Seen in Steels, ,
1 Dealings Slow.
- 'NEW YORK, April f ' HHPh-.
' 'Leading-stocks put a feebte foot
forward in today early market
proceedings but initial fractional

in many cases at the fmish. -r
; Recovery symptoms were dis
played by some steels and rails
in the. forenoon.. Dealings were so
slow, however, that follow
through power was lacking in
most cases.

of 80 stocks was off .1 of a point
at 40.4, the smallest decline of the
week. It was the sixth consecutive
session in which the composite
was on the losing side. Today's
closing figures compared with a

39.8. A year ago the average
stood at 50.8. Transfers amounted
to 357,230 shares against 584,020
yesterday.

as the company announced March
shipments of finished products
established a new peak. Bethle
