sion director, will discuss "Fitting
4H club work to the needs of the
state." He will tell of several new
developments, in club work related
to present conditions and show
how the club program may assist
in the general improvement of ag
ricultural and home conditions in
Oregon.
Dr. J. N. Shaw, bead of the
Oregon State College Veterinary
department, will speak on "Lamb
Dis eases'' following Teutsch's
talk. Dr. Shaw' has done a great
deal of work recently in solving
some of the most difficult and
baffling diseases of sheep. His
discussion at the start of lamb
ing will be of exceptional value
to sheep club members.

Torgerson said today.
Torgerson, college faculty mem
ber, told delegate! to "the open
ing meeting of a three-day soil
improvement coarse that accurate
s t a d y of the soil was the only
solid foundation for other farm
improvement efforts.
Oregon ' agriculturalists .were
credited by R. 8. Besse; assistant
director of the OSC experiment
station, with discovering the
value of sulphur as a fertilizer.

- The late decline pushed prices
dowa to the . lowest level of the
crop year on, the July delivery,
with September at the lowest of
this season. Some ' of the " sell
ing was attributed to "spreading
operations in which Chicago
wheat was sold against simultane
ous purchase at other markets.
Hitler' speech had no apparent
market effect, adding- only to the
uncertainties of the prevailing in
ternational situation. ;.
Seasonal temperatures prevailed
over domestic winter wheat terri
tory and 'the southwestern por
tion received moderate precipita
tion overnight. A Kansas report
said snow covered the crop . la
most part of the state. Warm,
dry, sunny weather was' said seed
ed for early- spring crops , since
not much fall plowing was done
last year leaving a considerable
acreage to he worked this spring.
