Pat two aps bread, crumbs In bowl and add S caps soar milk with S heaping teaspoons of soda dissolved In it. Then add cap molasses. cap sugar, pinch of alt, M teaspoon ginger and 1 un- beater egg. Add 1 cop- floor and ltt caps eorumeal. Add 2 table spoons shortening and 1 cap rais ins. Steam for Z boors in pound coffee tins. I ; i Canned Fruit Is Icebox Dessert Canned apricots make a good dessert for winter meals. APRICOT REFRIGERATOR , PUDDING i t can apricots, siered i tablespoons orange mirmi lade . 1 egg yolks 4 tablespoons batter H ap powdered sugar M cup cream Heat apricots in a double boiler, add to beaten yolks, cook until lightly thickened and chill. Cream batter and sugar and fruit mix- .ture. Beat cream stiff and add to mixture. Line mold with waxed Eaper. cover bottom and sides with idy fingers or sponge cake. Fill with three layers of frnlt mixture. With cake between layers and on top. Chill, garnish with orange sections and cream. Dayton Pioneer Buried Tuesday DAYTON W. E. Foster, 84, a resident of near Dayton since 1881 died December 29 at the home of his son Frank, where he had lived the last nine months. He suffered a stroke more than three years ago and has been a semi-Invalid since. He was born November '15, 186 i, at West Salem, Hi., and with his wife and two daughters came by rail to Portland in 188S and : from there to Dayton, the trip was made in a boat. He was the last one in a fam ily of five children. He was mar ried twice. Following the death of his first wife he was married to Luella Hibbert March 26, 18S. She died February 25. 18.
