Club Has Meeting
At West Stayton
WEST STAYTON The West
Stayton birthday club was enter
talned Wednesday afternoon at
the home of Mrs. O. O. Lacy, as
sisted by Mrs. Weston Lacy.
It was decided to have the an
nual Christmas party at the home
of Mrs. Henry Snoddy, December
18. j
Committees appointed were re
freshment, Mrs. Robert Goss; dec
oration, Mrs. Fred Comstock and
Mrs. Owen Lacy; tree, Mrs. Cleo
Chance and Mrs. Wilkinson.
A contest was the entertain
ment of the afternoon, with Mrs.
Frank Fox winning first and Mrs
Edward Hankel, sr., second prise.

and Mrs. Fox of Bitter Root,
Montana, who is a house guest at
the Fox home.
Legion Pow-Wow
Held at Dayton
DAYTON One hundred fifty
members attended the monthly
Yamhill county pow-wow Friday
at Dayton. Amity, Dayton, Mc
Minnville, Sheridan, Newberg and
Yamhill American Legion posts
and auxiliary were represented.
Dayton won first in the quia
conducted by the McMinnrllle
post. Four auxiliary members of
Sheridan presented a negro min
strel mammy, group of vocal selec
tions.
Professor Harry Dillon, instruc
tor of political science at Lin field
college delivered an address on
current events.
An orchestra composed of Win
nie McDougall, his wife and Irvln
Sion,-furnished music for dancing
following the business session.
Sheridan will be host to the
next county pow-wow.
Spring Valley Has
Party Date Named

Christian Endeavor society will
be entertained with a Christmas
party December 18 at the home
of Orvetta and Violet Cooper. All
young people in the community
are invited to attend. A gift ex
change will be featured, the price
not to exceed 10 cents.

Lynch Pays Check
As Court Orders
SILVERTON Mike Lynch paid
the amount of a check, $27, and
costs in the court of Alf O. Nel
son, justice of the peace, after
pleading guilty to issuing the
check without sufficient funds.
Charges were preferred by Mar
cus Vetter.
Warren Chastlne, Jr., violated
parole on a charge of falsely ob
taining money and was committed
to the Juvenile court at Salem.
Grangers' News
RICKREALL State grange of
ficers will hold a state conference
Friday, December 13. The meet
ing will begin at noon, continuing
for the remainder of the day.
At night the Ideal grange will
be discussed and all grangers will
be given opportunity to take part.
LIBERTY Retiring Master
Ralph Dent and Mrs. Dent were
honor guests at a covered dish
dinner in the Red Hills grange
hall Tuesday night. Christmas
decorations and favors were used
on he tables and a good alxed
crowd attended. Banquet stunts
were dinner features.

grange work.
