Guilty Is Verdict
In Bode Shooting
LEBANON A verdict of
guilty as charged was brought In
against C. Balte Bode who had
been Indicted on a charge of
assault with a dangerous weapon.
Bode admitted, firing a shot
from Inside his house on Third
street through the glass window
of a door and striking Ernest
Welser, a neighbor. Bode main
tained that the shooting of his
neighbor was accidental. The Jury
deliberated an hour and a half.

News
CLOVERDALE - The local
Farmers' Union meeting was
held recently at the Cloverdale
Bchoolhouse. The meeting was
well attended and proved Inter
esting as well as profitable to
members and friends. It was an
open meeting, with all officers
present. President Eddie Ahrens
called the meeting to order, and
the following names were pre
sented and accepted: Mr. and
Mrs. John Mickey, Mr. and Mrs.
L. A. Edwards, Mr. and Mrs.
Wayne Harding and Mr. and Mrs.
Everett Whealdon.
Members of the good of the
order committee called on Mrs.
Agnes Booth for a talk on the
correct way to salute the flag.
She urged every American to
learn this pledge and be able to
really salute the flag. Mrs.
Booth, county school superin
tendent, said that the first "line
of! defense" was the American
citizen. 1
There were a number of guests
present who gave little talks and
sidelights. The county executive
committee '" held Its meeting ' with
the local, making Interesting con

The next meeting will be December-
12, at which time elec
tion of officers will be held.
