The army this week has begrun training; in earnest jaunts in cold wind and rain. Tuesday, Company B of Salem was given orders to maintain a strict schedule of physical drills to train all mus cles to carry on rigid and? strenuous marches. An hour a day will be devoted to this training and will be Interspersed with hikes of more than three miles duration, to be increased with the growing strength of the Individ ual man. The "shake-down" period has begun with purpose, as company after company takes to the field, to classes, and to various other endeavors set forth in army reg ulations which are Invaluable in building morale, strength, and obedience.
