2 cups sifted flour ' ;
4 teaspoons phosphate baking
powder ' .
1 teaspoon salt
I tablespoons shortening
4 cup pie cherries and Juice
Sift dry ingredients together.
Work In shortening until mixture
is granular. Add I berries and
juice and stir until berries are
mixed through dough. Drop by
spoonful in greased muffin pans.
Bake in hot oren (460 -degrees)
for 15 minutes. Serre hot with
whipped cream or lemon sauce.

eggs
2 H eups milk .
3 cups flour
2 tablespoons baking powder
1 H teaspoons salt
teaspoon dry mnstard
Vs cup melted fat
1 cup. all-bran
IS slices boiled ham or cheese
Beat eggs, add milk and mix
well. Sift flour with baking pow
der, salt and mustard; add to
first mixture, stirring until flour
disappears. Add melted and
cooled fat and all-bran. Dip ham
or cheese slices in batter and
bake on hot griddle. Season
slightly with salt, and paprika.

book fashion, press edges togeth
er. Bake in hot oren (450 de
grees F.) about 20 minutes. ,

home of Mrs. S a 1 1 1 a Schults in
North River Road in honor of
Miss Dorothy Ruillfson, bride-elect
of Mr. Jack Anderson. The eve
ning was spent informally and
each guest embroidered her name
on a luncheon cloth for the bride.

SHRIMP AND EGG CANAPE ?
t Remore shells from six cold
hard cooked eggs. Cut length
wise, remoye yolk and rube to a
paste with tablespoon prepared
mustard, 1 tablespoon chili sauce,
salt and pepper to taste. Fill
whites with mixture and top each
half of egg with one large or two
smalt shrimps and teaspoon
mayonnaise. Serre on lettuce leaf
with two or three cucumber relish
sticks. '. '
CURRY CUCUMBER RELISH
STICKS
Peel 1 large cucumber. Cut In
half lengthwise. Remore seeds.
Cut in sticks S Inches long and Vi
Inch wide. Put sticks in bowl and

of cracker meal with cup grat

brown. Place chicken in center of
large platter. Lay alternately with

Select medium sized new pota
toes, allowing three or four for
each person ' to be served. . Peel
and cover with salted cold water
and boll, for IB - minutes. Drain
and let cool. Cut sliced bacon j in
1 inch lengths and place alter

on small wooden skewers. Lay
in flat pan, dot with butter and
cook until tender in hot oven.
FROSTED CANTALOUPE
SALAD
Peel cantaloupe. Cut slice from
end and remove seeds. Fill center
with fruit gelatine and refriger-
ate until gelatine is firm. Slightly
soften cream cheese with milk
and cover entire outside of melon
with layer of cream cheese. Chill
and serve in slices on crisp endive
or chicory with mayonnaise dress

Simply topping is coffee cream
whip atop a huge square of good
old-fashioned gingerbread. ,
COFFEE ' CREAM WHIP
Add 3 tablespoons ground cof
fee to cup of milk and bring
to boiling point. Let stand 10
minutes. Strain through cheese
cloth. Cool.: Whip 1 cup heavy
cream Until thick, add S table
spoons powdered sugar, tea
spoon vanilla and -cold coffee mix
ture. Mix well and serve on warm
