cer in the German army' during

half Of the new citizens. Mrs.
Fischer told of her Joy and grati
fication In becoming an American
citizen and also presented a gift
from the new -citizens to Mrs.
Otillie Sigurdson of West Salem,
who had coached them In pre pa
ration for the examinations.

United States to each of the hon
ored guests as a gift from the
Legion post.
Dr. Everson was introduced by
Judge Walker. Dr. Everson, la
addressing the new citizens, con
trasted citizenship under s de
mocracy and under s dictatorship.

state.
Dr. Everson. who was a ma
jor-general in the World war snd
commanded American troops In
the Italian sector, paid tribute
to those of different nationalities
who fought with the American
forces and who so willingly gave
their lives for their adopted
country.
He stated that In these times
we do not know what unexpected
news our papers may v bring us
snd called on all to- use good
judgment snd clear 'thinking In
tne days aaead.
