Equal Last Year
There has been no material
reduction In the number of appli
cations for 1940 retail beer and
wine licenses, compared with
those for 1989, state liquor eon
trol commission officials report
ed here Friday.
It previously was predicted that
a larre number of persons operat
ing beer dispensaries would not
apply for 1940 licenses oecause
of the drastic regulations threat
ened by tho state liquor commis
sion. Officials said it would be late
In January before all ot the appli

11 Sermons
A model of the Old Testament
tabernacle will bo used to illus
trate a aeries of lectures start
ing Sunday night at the First
Baptist church by the pastor. Dr.
Irving A. Fox. The model, built
by Dr. Fox, oocapies a space of
10 by IS feet and Is constructed
on the scale ot one Inch to the
cubit, reckoning tho cubit as 1
foot 9 inches.
Careful workmanship has gone
into the building of the model so
that it is nearly as exact replica
of the tabernacle as can be made
mm Biblical descriptions. It Is
the only model of Its kind In this
part of the country, according
to Dr. Fox.
"Importance ot the study of
the tabernacle is shown by the
amount of space that it Is given
in the Bible." Dr. Fox says. "The
account of the making of the ta
bernacle occupies much more
BDaee than the history of the
creation.
'The tabernacle was God's
first dwelling place on earth. He
had walked with Adam. He had
visited Abraham, but here He
came to dwell."
