Polk Farmers Get
Conservation Pay
DALLAS Polk county farm

US treasury checks were In the
assortment and they totaled
31678.98 in value.
R. D. Pence, chairman of the
Polk county conservation com
mittee, pointed out that payments
are made to farmers who comply
with the AAA program by Im
proving their farms or by plant
ing within the acreage allotment
set up for wheat, potatoes or
commercial vegetables.
It Is estimated that 1100 farm
ers in the county will receive
1939 conservation checks total
ing about $120,000.

sent to the state AAA office at
Corvallis where they are audited
and sent to the US treasury dis

To Give Carnival
RICKREALL The Community
club will hold Its annual carnival
Tuesday night. A free show will
begin at 8:15, consisting of a
bathing beauty parade, Negro
minstrels and folk dancing.
Booths of eats, needlework and
novelties will be on sale as well
as the usual carnival concessions.
The proceeds of affair will go
toward the club project this year

West Stayton Co-op for its can

A 10-pound boy was born to
Mr. and Mrs. Otto Hlrn Tuesday,
November 21 at the McMinnville
hospital. The boy was named
Otto Lee. Mother and son were
brought home Sunday.
